This policy explains what personal data Mocam Cleaning & Maintenance LTD (“Mocam”, “we”, “us”) collects through mocam.ie and the Mocam booking app, why we collect it, who we share it with and the rights you have. It applies to customers who book cleaning, Service Providers (the self-employed cleaners and cleaning companies who carry out bookings for Mocam as our sub-contractors), and anyone who contacts us or joins our waiting list.
Who we are
Mocam Cleaning & Maintenance LTD is the data controller for the personal data described here. Registered office: [REGISTERED ADDRESS]. Company number: [CRO NUMBER]. You can contact us about anything in this policy at info@mocam.ie.
What we collect
If you book a clean (customers)
- Account details: your name, email address, mobile number and password (stored securely as a hash; we never see it).
- Booking details: the service, date, time, duration, number of cleaners, whether the cleaner brings products, your area, street address and Eircode.
- Payment details: card payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card number; we keep only the card brand, last four digits and expiry so you can recognise the card on your account.
- Reviews and messages: ratings and reviews you leave, and messages you exchange with your cleaner through the app.
- Records: when you accepted our terms, your bookings, payments and cancellations.
If you apply or work as a Service Provider
- Application details: your name or company name, email, mobile number, whether you are a sole trader or company, the town you are based in, the areas and services you offer, whether you bring your own products, your availability and experience.
- Identity documents: a copy of your photo ID (passport, driving licence or Public Services Card) and, if you provide it, your insurance certificate. These are stored in a private, access-controlled store that only you and our Office team can open, and are used only to verify who you are and that you are insured.
- Vetting and status: notes from our review of your application and documents, whether you are approved, who approved you, and when you agreed to our terms, including the non-solicitation terms.
- Work records: jobs you apply for and complete, ratings and reviews, and any reports made about a booking.
- Payout details: payouts are made through Stripe Connect. Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs to pay you and to meet its legal obligations; we receive confirmation of your payout account but not your full bank details.
If you use “Use my location” or join our waiting list
- Location: if you tap “Use my location”, your device shares your position with the page so we can suggest the nearest area we cover. This happens on your device; we do not store it.
- Waiting list: if we do not cover your area yet and you ask us to tell you when we do, we keep your email, the town you enter, the service you were interested in and, if you shared your location, an approximate position rounded to about 1 km.
If you contact us
Your name, email and the content of your message.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To provide the service (create your account, take and manage bookings, show your request to suitable Service Providers, take payment and pay Service Providers, let you message each other): necessary to perform our contract with you.
- To review Service Provider applications and keep our service safe (checking identity documents, vetting, ratings, handling reports, appeals and blocking misuse): our legitimate interest in making sure the people we send into customers’ homes and businesses are who they say they are.
- To enforce our terms, including the rule that Service Providers and customers book through Mocam rather than arranging work directly: our legitimate interest in protecting our business.
- To keep financial and tax records (VAT invoices, payments, payouts): required by law.
- To report payments to Service Providers to Revenue where tax law requires it: required by law.
- To tell you when we launch near you (waiting list): your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Marketing emails, if we ever send them: only with your consent, and every email will include a way to unsubscribe.
Who we share it with
- Your Service Provider or customer: Service Providers see the area, date, time and type of a request before applying. Your street address, Eircode and contact details are only shared with the Service Provider you choose for that booking. Customers see a Service Provider’s first name, photo, rating and reviews.
- Stripe (payments and Service Provider payouts).
- Supabase (our database and sign-in provider; data is hosted in the EU, in Ireland).
- Hostinger (website and app hosting) and our email provider (to send account and booking emails).
- Google (Google Analytics on mocam.ie, only if you accept analytics cookies).
- Revenue: if you are a Service Provider, we share your name, contact details, VAT number if you have one, and the amounts we paid you with Revenue where Irish tax law requires it, for example on third-party information returns for payments made for services. Revenue may share this with other tax authorities where the law allows.
- Other authorities where we are legally required to.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not use it to train artificial intelligence models.
Where it is stored
We store data in the European Union. If a provider processes data outside the EU, we rely on safeguards approved under EU law, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Account details: while your account is open, and for up to 12 months after you close it, to deal with any questions or disputes.
- Booking, payment and invoice records: 6 years, as required for tax purposes.
- Unsuccessful Service Provider applications, including any ID documents: 12 months.
- ID and insurance documents of approved Service Providers: while you work with Mocam and for 12 months after you leave, then deleted. Records of when you agreed to our terms are kept for 6 years.
- Waiting list entries: until we launch in your area and contact you, until you ask us to remove you, or 24 months, whichever comes first.
Cookies
The booking app uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to make it work. Our website, mocam.ie, also uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit and which pages they use, but only if you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. Until you do, Analytics cookies are not set. You can change your choice at any time using the “Manage consent” link on the website. We do not use advertising cookies. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
Your rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. Email info@mocam.ie and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
Children
Mocam is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect children’s data.
